James Ling Chung
Group Managing Director
A graduate from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand with a Bachelor in Engineering (Civil), James Ling Chung started as a Director and is now the Group Managing Director of Perbena Emas Sdn Bhd, a company that has built its reputation as one of the most reliable and established construction company in Sarawak, Malaysia. With over 40 years of experience, he is actively involved in the day to day management of the company and has grown from a small start-up in 1977 to one that currently employs over 200 staffs. James is a member of the Board of Engineers Malaysia, holding a certificate as a Professional Engineer.
A visionary in his field, James has built a culture around the office that encourages growth and innovation. He ensures that all his employees receive adequate training and are encouraged to think outside the box. Through innovation and hard work, Perbena Emas has become a major contributor to the development of the state.
James likes to play golf during his spare time as well as spend quality time with his family.

Helen Teng Lung Wong
Executive Director
Helen Teng has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of New Brunswick, Canada and an MBA in Business Law from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia. She has also completed her Post-Graduate Diploma in Management Studies from ICM, United Kingdom. With over 41 years of experience in the construction industry, Helen has overseen more than RM5 billion worth of projects for Perbena Emas.
Helen is also a Member of the Royal Institute of Surveyors, Malaysia. As the Executive Director, Helen takes great care in making sure that her team is well looked after in terms of growth, training and satisfaction. It is her vision to become a leader in her field and also in the construction industry.
Helen’s hobbies include travelling, reading, golfing, financial planning, baking and cooking.

Ronald Ling

Acting General Manager - Building
Ronald Ling is a graduate of Unitec Institute of Technology, Auckland, New Zealand, with a Bachelor of Construction (Construction Economics). With over 20 years of work experience in marketing, property development, F&B management and construction, Ronald bring with him expertise in Business Development and Administration, Culture implementation and people coaching and leadership. As the Executive General Manager, Ronald is in charge of driving innovation and positive work culture, while developing the company.
Ronald holds a Marketing Manager’s Certificate from PPK and a Certificate in Construction Management from Columbia University. He is also a member of the Entrepreneur’s Organization Malaysia. Ronald’s vision as Executive General Manager is to leave a mark on the people he leads and on the communities that Perbena Emas transforms.
In his spare time, Ronald likes to spend quality time with his 3 children and keep physically fit by running outdoors, exercising and playing futsal. His hobbies include travelling, cooking, reading and watching movies.

Ir. Sii Hie Ing
General Manager - Construction
Mr Sii is Perbena Emas’s newest leader, and he comes with over 30 years of experience in Civil Engineering. Graduating with a MSc in Civil Engineering from Mississippi State University (MSU), USA in 1993, Mr Sii’s career has grown in leaps and bounds since then. He has been involved in various phases in project management and various trades of business. He has also formulated a water quality index and presented it at the Joint CSCE-ASCE National Conference.
Currently the General Manager for Perbena Emas, Mr Sii leads and coordinates a team of consultants, suppliers and sub-contractors for construction works. He was also one of the panel speakers for 20th Asian Forum Education Conference on “Green Business: Building a Sustainable Future” in 2016. He hopes to develop proposals and plans for green concept masterplan development driven by engineering approaches.
In his free time, he loves to relate biblical lessons with engineering teaching, and the occasional hiking and ping pong with his wife.

Assets and Procurement Manager
Yii Kong Veng holds a Diploma in Technology (Building) from Tungku Abdul Rahman College, Malaysia. Yii first joined Perbena Emas in 1997 as a site quantity surveyor before leaving in 2003 to gain further experience in the work force. After gaining valuable experience, Yii returned in 2017 to become the Asset and Procurement Manager, with his expertise highly valued in project management, procurement, costing and budgeting.
Yii believes that teamwork is important to achieve the company’s goals, and he leads his team with this in mind.
Yii enjoys watching and reading the news as well as spending quality time with family.

David Topping

David Topping rejoined Perbena Emas in 2023 as the General Manager for Buildings. Having been dealing with Perbena Emas since 1995, David brings with him over 40 years of experience in major project management. Graduating from University of London Kings College with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree, David also gained his Master of Science in Agricultural Engineering from Cranfield Institute Technology and an MBA from Brunel University Henley Management College.
David is experienced in project implementation and management systems and is a certified construction claims practitioner and a certified sustainable development practitioner (QSAS).
Having been living in Kuching since 2002, David has three lovely girls born and bred in Sarawak and enjoys diving, gardening, white water rafting, expeditions to wild places, jungle trekking and reading.

Evelyn Teo graduated with a Bachelor of Business (double major in Accounting and Finance) from Edith Cowan University, Western Australia and is now a Chartered Accountant (CA), a Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and a member of CPA Australia. Evelyn came on board in 2010 as the company’s Financial Controller.
Evelyn plans, manages, organizes, coordinates and control the Account Department in supporting the accounting and financial reporting requirements. She leads her team to review and analyze financial reports to ensure proper preparation and maintenance of accounting records and financial reports in compliance with management, professional and statutory requirements.
In her spare time, Evelyn likes to dabble in gardening and baking.

Yap graduated from the Federal Institute of Technology, Malaysia and continued his studies at Curtin University of Technology, Western Australia, gaining a degree in Bachelor of Applied Science (Building).
Bringing with him over 30 years of work experience in Project Management, Project Costing & Budget Control, Yap is a great contribution to the team.
He aspires for job satisfaction and to guide and lead the team to reach higher achievements.
In his spare time, Yap likes to read and jog.

A 2002 alumni graduate from the University of Wolverhampton, United Kingdom in Quantity Surveying, Teo Lip Kok joined our team in 2012 as a Senior Quantity Surveyor. Having been promoted to Contract Manager in 2019, Teo is an integral part of the team, sharing his expertise in contract administration & management, project cost estimation, feasibilities studies, cost engineering and construction management.
Teo has been a Member of the Royal Institutions of Surveyors Malaysia (MRISM No. M4851) since December 2011 and has a vision of growing with the team and delivering projects with the highest quality/standard while focusing and promoting environmentally friendly methodologies in the effort to minimise the adverse environmental impact caused by construction.
In his spare time, Teo likes to travel, watch movies and spend quality time with his family.

Kevin Lai
Contract and Claims Manager
Kevin Lai graduated with a Bachelor (Hons) in Quantity Surveying from the University of Reading, United Kingdom. He is currently a member of the Royal Institute of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) and the Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM). Kevin is also an adjudicator empanelled with the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC). Joining Perbena Emas in 2020, Kevin brings with him expertise around construction claims, dispute resolutions and contracts. He is currently in charge of construction disputes and claims.
Kevin has goals to contribute significantly to Perbena Emas’s vision of building a better community for all, with emphasis on projects that brings growth to Sarawak. He also plans to mentor the younger generation in Perbena Emas as they are the future leaders of the organisation.
Kevin enjoys rock climbing, bouldering, off-roading and going to the gym in his spare time.

Group HR Manager
Graduated specializing in economics from University Science Malaysia, Siew Joon is leading the group-wide HR function for all the businesses under the group. Joining us in 2013, Siew Joon possesses 15 years of experience managing the overall HR spectrum focusing on human capital strategy in total rewards compensation, learning development, organizational and performance management. Certified with Human Capital Institute (USA) as the Human Capital Strategist, she has contributed to revolutionizing HR services for the Group.
Siew Joon recently led the team to win the HR Best Practices Award 2019 by MIHRM Malaysia, a National event with international status and global recognition.
In her spare time, Siew Joon enjoys going for walks with her family and cooking their favourite meal, as well as trying to achieve her daily 30 minutes workout target.

Human Resource Manager
Leon Voon joins our PE family in 2023 as our Human Resource Manager. He has a Post-Graduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK and an MBA in Human Resource Management from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia.
He brings with him 22 years of working experience in human resource for different industries including manufacturing, software services, real estate, property development and construction. At Perbena Emas, Leon plans to play his role in contributing and supporting the team to grow from strength to strength in achieving our goals.
In his free time, Leon enjoys exercising, listening to music and traveling.

Lisa Ling
Corporate Affairs & HRA Manager
Lisa Ling graduated from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand with a Bachelor of Commerce (double major in Marketing and Information Systems). Having worked in Australia and United States, Lisa returned to Kuching and joined Perbena Emas in 2009 as an HR Executive. In 2018, Lisa took a sabbatical from Perbena Emas to pursue her Master's Degree in Nottingham Trent University, United Kingdom. She graduated with a Distinction in Masters of Science programme in Branding and Advertising. She returned in 2020 to a new role as Corporate Affairs & Human Resource Administration Manager.
Lisa has passion in marketing and has the vision to bring Perbena Emas to the forefront of construction in Sarawak. Lisa has a certificate in Carbon Literacy from Nottingham, and it is her mission to uphold the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals in Perbena Emas’s core values. Since stepping into her new role, Lisa has spearheaded several CSR projects based on Sustainable Goals such as beach clean-up and food pantry for the needy. Lisa loves travelling and exploring new cities and spending quality time with family and friends.
